A Visit to Sopheak in Cambodia
28. March 2022All Ears Cambodia (AEC) recently sent us an update on Sopheak, a 10-year old girl from Cambodia with severe hearing loss. Thanks to the hearing aids she was fitted with back in 2016, she has learned to speak and is able to attend a local public school. She hopes to continue her education and dreams of becoming a doctor.

Revisiting Ralph in Lebanon
28. January 2022We recently received an update from seven-year-old Ralph from Lebanon, whose profound hearing loss was diagnosed when he was just four months old. As it continued to worsen, the only way to improve his hearing was through a Cochlear implant, and the necessary surgery was performed in 2020.

Until three years ago, there was no newborn screening program in our hospital, and we are still feeling the consequences of that today. We have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to diagnosing and treating hearing loss in children.

New hope for Phuong
28. October 2019Only a few months after the birth of Phuong, her family gets the impression that something is wrong. When someone calls her name, Phuong doesn't look up. Even when the monsoon rains rage outside and batter the windows with full force, the baby shows no reaction. Phuong is one year old when a doctor in a Vietnamese hospital confirms what her parents feared: The child suffers from severe hearing loss.
